2014 Lodge Theme: “Back On Basics”

IMG_0976The newly installed Worshipful Master is emphasizing that the lodge get “Back On Basics”.  With that, the meeting and degree schedule for the year is as follows:

1st Thursdays:  Regular Meeting as per usual. 7:30pm.
2nd Thursdays:  Degree practice. 7:00pm.
3rd Thursdays:  Degree / Education on the Degree.  7:30pm.
4th Thursdays:  Committee of General Purpose Meeting.  7:00pm.

Degree Schedule:

January:  EA
February: FC
March:  MM
April:  EA
May:  FC
June: MM

September:  EA (Builders’ Night)
October:  FC
November:  MM
December:  Installation and Investiture

So brethren, please note, if a candidate is not available for a degree night, the degree will be emulated and specific pre-determined parts will be explained in more detail during the emulation.

All lodge officers now have a copy of the new Lodge Officers’ Manual.

Meeting Cancelled – Nov. 21

Brethren,

Due to the severe weather snowfall warning issued for Edmonton, tonight’s emergent meeting has been cancelled.

Reminder that the Past Masters’ Dinner is scheduled for Wed. Nov. 25 at 6:30pm at Freemasons’ Hall to be tentatively followed by a Step-Up Night Officers Practice at 8:00pm.

Builders’ Night – Thu. Sep. 19

Since the 1960′s, Ivanhoe has hosted the Builders’ Night consisting of a Degree Team of brethren from the building/construction/engineering fields who perform the EA Degree for candidate(s).  Festive board to follow.  Lodge tyles at 7:30pm.  Join us!

Masonic Spring Workshop 2013

This weekend Apr 26-28, 2013, a good group of brethren from Ivanhoe Lodge will be attending this year’s Masonic Spring Workshop at the Delta Lodge Resort in Kananaskis, Alberta.  Nestled among the stunning Rocky Mountains, over 200 Masons from all over Alberta and beyond gather for a few days of education, enlightenment, inspiration, and fellowship.  And who can miss the amazing Mobile Masonic Bookstore!

  • Beer Battered Coconut Prawns with a mustard chili sauce
  • Lemon Artichoke Pesto Dip with Assorted Dippers
  • Smoked Bacon, Fig and Goat Cheese Tartlets
  • Beef Carpaccio in a parmesan tuille cup with horseradish crème fraiche and caramelized red onion relish
  • Lemongrass Chicken Skewer with a sweet chili mango sauce
  • Cambazola and Pear Pizza with caramelized onions and thyme

The cost is $30 per person and we’re limited to 30 people.

We will confirm the speaker for the evening as soon as it’s finalized but the intention is to honour Bro. Gordon Wright’s memory by having someone come in from The Canadian Legion to give a talk. We’ll also hopefully show some old ‘news reel footage’ of the D-Day naval operations.
